U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has signed a DoD Memorandum renaming Fort Moore in Columbus, Georgia back to Fort Benning, but once again instead of using Confederate General Henry L. Benning as its Namesake, similar to Fort Bragg (Fort Liberty), it will instead be named after Corporal Fred G. Benning, who fought in the U.S. Army in France in 1918 during World War I.
