My question exactly.
Usually the answer I get is "just to be a good person and try to better the world and enjoy life"
Again we circle back to "but why though" it's literally pointless. You could die this second or you could die 1000years from now and the outcome would be the same.
No one can ever give a satisfactory answer.
That'd be my takeaway. I'd reach the same logical answer AI eventually will.
If the meaning of life is just to prolong life and there is no deeper meaning the most merciful thing to do would be to just end it
This isn't a question for me, it is something I thought about a lot. If I ever stopped believing in God.
And a heaven.
And a hell.
The conclusions I drew as to what I'd do would be the biggest fed post in human history. I need to believe good people done dirty are given comfort after death and that evil people eventually face some kind of retribution or else I would feel the need to bring retribution to them RIGHT NOW.
