i have so much negative association in my mind with PDFs, adobe, and viruses that i want to say epub; but in reality, i don't know enough about the formats to answer accurately

Lol that's why I'm asking.

are you writing a book or downloading? something else?

Downloading and I have options. I have always used PDF out of habit.

i suppose epub, i would look at what your book reading client supports

I download a lot from archive.org and they usually have many formats. PDF and EPUB are the two I recognize. I don't know what the pros and cons are of either.

Both need to be handled carefully due to potential security risks. If they're the only choices, I'd pick whichever one is compatible with more of the devices/apps you might personally use

PNG (not a joke)

I think it depends on the content and how you intend on reading it.

Pdf is best for content that has very particular formatting and graphics but because it's preformatted, it's not so good for reading on small screens

Epub is best for mostly text content that doesn't have too many graphics since the text can be formatted on the fly for your screen, so it's good for phones and small e-readers

Generally I stick with epub for most books but will get pdf if it's like a textbook or something more technical

Lol just realized how old this thread is, it was the first thing on your feed when I first opened your account ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
