Arch and NixOS are not good for most people. I think this is very fair to say. But people who attach their personalities to OS's will cry about it.

Linux Mint is the GOAT 🐐

I think things on the Debian or Fedora side of things are better for most people, so I would agree Mint is quite nice.

Started with it, using it until this days.

preconfigured arch [artix] is great, i used an installer and it was no harder than say mint or ubuntu

Yes but the underlying system is not for most people though. Bleeding edge has its cons, and for most people those cons are too much.

i think in general people want up to date software, with a wide selection (without needing to do weird PPA stuff)

also, imo most "general users" don't care about underlying systems, to them in doesn't matter whether things are installed through apt, flatpak, pacman, xbps, etc

just that it's installed

my artix laptop has been stable for over half a decade now, i think the stuff about arch being bleeding edge is a little much

Nah, People don't care about up to date software they want software that works, Its cool that arch can get the latest and greatest but that actually does come at a cost. Ask any average computer user, what matters to them new stuff or reliability they will say reliability 9/10 time. Arch has use cases, i'm not saying it sucks or anything, I'm just saying for most people its probably not the correct option, but people can use whatever they want.

we can agree to disagree

I have nothing against Debian but I’ve been running Omarchy and it’s nice. It’ll stretch normies a bit at first, but with some effort it should be totally fine
