As our world grows more and more complex, it becomes increasingly difficult for anyone to fully understand the forces at play.

In a complex civilization like ours, individuals must adapt to changes they may not comprehend: fluctuations in resources, shifts in occupations, and the increasing difficulty of attaining certain desires. These changes are influenced by countless circumstances that elude the grasp of any single mind; or even worse those affected attribute blame to obvious, immediate causes, unaware of the intricate interrelationships that truly determine these changes.

Even in a completely planned society,

explaining the need for people's job transitions or changes in remuneration would require explaining and justifying the entire plan, limiting the audience to a select few.

"It was men's submission to the impersonal forces of the market that in the past has made possible the growth of a civilization which without this could not have developed; it is by thus submitting that we are everyday helping to build something that is greater than any one of us can fully comprehend."

- F. A. Hayek
