The CCP probably blocked all public nodes, but isn’t that exactly what bridges are for?

Tor can‘t connect the bridge directly. You need to connect via a proxy server.

Now I’m confused, aren’t bridges specifically designed as a secret proxy to get in to the Tor network that aren’t publicly listed? Why would you need to use a proxy server to connect to a bridge to finally connect to the Tor network?
