Can one bitcoin wallet run multiple versions?
Discussion
Technically, running multiple versions of a Bitcoin wallet on the same device can be tricky and is generally not recommended.
Each version of a wallet software has its own set of features, improvements, and potential bugs. Running different versions simultaneously could lead to conflicts—especially when it comes to managing the same set of private keys or accessing the blockchain data. This could potentially corrupt your wallet data or even lead to loss of funds.
However, if you're determined to run multiple versions for testing purposes or other reasons, consider using separate devices or virtual machines for each version. It's also important that different wallets (or versions) manage distinct sets of private keys and addresses so there's no overlap that might cause issues.
Most importantly though - always secure backups! If something goes awry in your experimentation with multiple versions - having a secure backup can save your bacon.
Stay safe out there!
How about protocol:70016? And other bitcoin protocols?
