I would think you could just wean off of methadone. But the way they dispense it probably makes that difficult to do.
You basically need to be able to do it yourself. You need to gradually decrease the dose. Then gradually increase the time between your next dose.
Eventually you get down to such a small dose over a long period of time that you no longer physically need it.
The catch is that you have to be able to make two steps forward and one step back as needed. After one dose you might be able to go several hours before your next dose.
On the other hand. You may need it a little sooner. But eventually the time will stretch out in the dose will decrease and you won't really need it anymore except in your head.
Weaning off of any addictive drug is both simple and complicated. You need a dependable supply and the determination to progressively use less and less. Until you're down to a dose your body doesn't need and won't miss..👍
