Looking back at the golden era of LAN parties, where gamers gathered with their bulky monitors and tangled cables to enjoy multiplayer games in the same room.
Who else misses those epic moments?

NEVER KNEW LAN PARTIES GOT THAT BIG. PLAYING HALO ON LAN WAS SOOOO MUCH FUN
XBConnect.
The LAN party that went around the globe.
Halo 2 lan parties were fun back in the day.
Brought my own controller cause I thought it made a difference 🤣
it was a simpler time. a time when the stench of BO, mountain dew, and doritos filled the air...
Holy shit how did they even orchestrate that
That’s the point: no governance > governance
Big lan parties were definitely defining moments of my youth. We would take over houses and play games for several days straight.
Definitely not healthy, but... when you're 16 / 17 You don't really think about that.
It's actually partially what got me into networking. I remember when we got our first 24-port switch That was quite literally a game changer.
Why are so many naked dudes in there? Gay...
Because with all those running computers it was hot as fuck
Truly, this was peak internet.
That looks like one of the early QuakeCons. Always wanted to attend one. I still remember the first QuakeCon when Dennis Fong aka Thresh won John Carmack’s Ferrari for taking first place. We used to play against his clan Death Row on Stanford.edu quake servers when we would drag our PC’s to UBC to utilize their T1 internet pipe. We would get our asses beat but it was fun. Gaming, eating takeout and downing can after can of Barq’s till the wee hours.
T1 man.... hot damn. Back when 33,6 kbps was a decent linkup and hotshots had something called ISDN....
Yeah I’ll never forget beating one of the best guys in our clan in a 1v1 death match he was hosting and I was pinging 225 over a 28.8 modem. Great days.
A buddy of mine wanted a LAN party for his bachelors party so we brought a bunch of machines into an empty house that I was moving out of. It was a blast.
Good old times
All through high school I had a big TV and Xbox in the back of my car at all times because we did HALO LAN parties so often.
I went on to run a LAN-only video game tournament company for 3 years and brought the magic of in person gaming to hundreds of people in my community.
It's a lost art.
Also where is this picture from?!
