Later come to find out my preferred method of using Orbot as a VPN isn't compatible with running RethinoDNS proxy. Ended up messing around and finding out I have to factory reset my device again today because I uninstalled and reinstalled abd force stopped and restarted the apps to both become nonfunctional beyond repair aside from factory resetting.
