According to the leaked Chainalysis video on their attempts to trace monero transactions, one of the things that can make an $XMR transaction stand out is if the fee is higher or lower than average. You can't see amounts of a monero transaction but you can see the fee. My question is, when using the standard Monero GUI wallet, is it better for privacy to use the default fee setting labeled "automatic" or the one labeled"normal x1"? I tried finding this out but can't find a clear answer anywhere, does anyone know? I'm assuming automatic is the best choice and that's why it's the default option but I'm not sure.

The best choice is to use bitcoin and not shit coins

Seriously now...

But we know how bitcoin works and its not appropriate for use for financial transactions over the internet

Bitcoin is for saving monero is for spending, if you care about your privacy. If you don't care than sure, keep using BTC exclusively.

Bitcoin = digital gold

Monero = digital money

Normal would stick out in monero, there is usually no need to increase fees the way the network is designed. Automatic will usually go for bellow normal, usually "slow" fee.

Anything else important from that video ?

Yeah, another takeaway is always use your own node because they take over nodes that are trusted by community and turn them into malicious nodes to harvest transaction data. Many other tidbits, kinda hard to find the video here is a copy. https://x.com/anhdres/status/1833518238136996143

Yeah but even still doesn’t tell you anything.
