We have a new fibre Internet supplier to the village Gigaclear. I decided to order it to replace my BT FTTC supply.
Back in June they came to install it, but at the end, when turning on, they discovered the back end team hadn't connected up their side. So they left and promised somebody would be in touch once they completed the install on their side.
Months went past, I wasn't bothered because my existing connection is good enough. Then I started receiving emails saying they are ready to install and offering me to book an appointment online for engineers to come out. I knew they didn't need to, but clicked on the link anyway. It led nowhere as the appointment had already be completed.
I had entered a glitch in the system. I tried plugging in the router this side, but no joy, they clearly have some procedure to complete before activating my account. They continue to email and text. I replied to the text, but there is no reply path and the texts fail to send. The emails get sent, but nobody reads them.
They try to phone, but because I don't allow unrecognised calls, my phone blocks them. I try to call them, but refuse to wait in a queue. And so it has gone like this for 4 months, culminating in signing up to Watson, my AI receptionist, who I linked my Google calendar to enable them to book an appointment.
They have called several times, but hung up after realising it's an AI, which I find hilarious as that turns the tables on companies who want us to speak to their AI's.
Because I'm not desperate for their service, I decided to let this cat and mouse game play out to see where it leads. So far we are at stalemate, they refuse to talk to my AI, answer emails or accept inbound texts and I refuse to wait in a phone queue to speak to them.
Funny old world we're becoming 😂
