I don't see it in terms of choosing sides. It's about what works ultimately.

The question is: Does the consensus mechanism deliver on its promise of secure-decentralization?

- Proof of Work: Yes* (*when stratum v2 gets full adoption)

- Proof of Stake: Nope

- Proof of History: Bwahahahaha

So we have Proof of Work. What are the attributes of it? Well, one of the most important is that there will always have a competition for dominating the hash-rate. It's essentially a winner takes all game on a long enough timeline. Great, so in other words, the chain with the largest share of hash is winning. So, which one is that? It's Bitcoin.

I don't think it has to be more complicated than that. It'll play out however it will, yes some people will get scammed and that's a shame, but it doesn't change the inevitability of the future, just the time horizon.
