Sure. Instead of connecting to only your list of relays, the Gossip model is a method of discovering what relays your friends use, and connecting to those. The relays you connect to will change over time as your followers change the relays they use, etc.

It is considered a boon for decentralization, as it reduces the need to use the biggest relays in order to see people's posts.
