I'm not opposed to the NIP for people that want to play with their tokens with Nostr.

Only Bitcoin is true money and Lightning zaps handle exchanges nicely, but people will want to transfer other digital assets and I see nothing wrong with that. It's certainly no worse then trying to jam everything through the nostr protocol and reinventing the wheel for things like medical records, storefronts, file storage etc.
