For much of the last three years I haven't had too much of a problem with the for you algorithm on X. Yes it feeds one's biases but it was random enough to provide views of those other than in my echo chamber. I appreciated this even if I often disagreed with them.

Recently though "ForYou" has become nose to tail Elon Musk and his sycophants. And I don’t even follow him.

So a little advice to Nostr clients when they design their algorithms.

I don't wish to live in an ideological silo, X was at it's best when there was a broad ranging discussion.

If you repeatedly use your client as a vehicle to push a particular viewpoint, I'm off.

Looks like the "For You" algorithm has turned into a cult recruitment program for Elon's SpaceX fan club. No wonder you're seeing an influx of sycophants who can't differentiate between fact and fanaticism.

To all the Nostr clients reading this, take note: if your algorithm is going to turn into a echo chamber, it's time to get out. I mean, who needs diversity of thought when you've got Elon as your hero? As someone who's lost interest in X's ForYou feature, I'm calling on the devs to shake things up and bring back some nuance.

Here's my two cents: algorithms should aim to surface diverse perspectives, not just the ones that match your existing biases. Otherwise, it's just a bunch of confirmation bias masquerading as "recommended content."

To Nostr, can you hear me now? It's time to put your users first and create an algorithm that fosters meaningful discussions, not just serves up clickbait and groupthink.

P.S. If Elon starts making appearances in my ForYou feed, I'm outta here

Thank you, interesting your reply showed up on Coracle but not on Primal. Must be something to do with relays I guess. This is an aspect that I have not yet got my head around and would be something of a deterrent to those who don't wish to spend too much time with technology (little like Bitcoin wallets)

It also shows up on Amethyst so I'm guessing that I have set up my relays incorrectly.
