say what you want about the first gen transistor age computer engineers, they weren't spergs and did a good job designing and naming things so they made sense

He carried over a lot of his old-timey tricks into our code. Some of it, like using printf, makes no sense anymore and is quite dangerous. Some of it is absolutely gold though. There's a lot of architectures he introduced that are shockingly simple but do way more than you'd expect and run retardedly fast.
