Elon has the "move fast and break things" mentality from Silicon Valley because in SV it's all about being first, even if you're not ready and have no idea what you're doing
in effect Trump 47 is actually a younger man than Trump 45 - his effective age is the average age of himself and Elon
Trump respects Elon because Elon is good at all the things that Trump values - namely being rich and famous, womanizing, having lots of kids and being arrogant.
one major difference between Trump and Elon is Trump is all talk, while Elon is MOSTLY talk but also sometimes actually does the crazy things he says he will do.

That's a fair point. His approach has been very sophisticated this time around, and whoever is doing this is someone who understands the inner workings of the surveillance state, and it has to be someone high up. This person may not even be known publicly.
