Once you get on a washing schedule (every other day) it isn't bad at all. I cloth diapered my oldest two kids and they are 20 months apart.

I got Molly’s suds powder for inners & some pods of tide free & clean for the outers…
I wonder if there is a non toxic diy that works really good.

Charlie's Soap is a clean laundry detergent that I use and a lot of cloth diapering Moms like to use. I have made my own before with washing soda, borax, baking soda and then you need a good bar soap that you will grate up and mix in. I like this version because I like powdered laundry soap but you can make your own liquid detergent too. I will say you will need to strip your diapers every now and then to remove any build up of detergent over time. I never had to do it very often maybe once every few months. I hope that was helpful.
