GM!

I'm thinking of running a full bitcoin node. Do I need to have a 2 TB SSD or is 1 TB enough? And how long would 1 TB last?

I would go with 2tb

I have ran into the 1TB limit on my node already

1 tb is a huge mistake. Mines at like 97% full already

+1

My Bitcoin node is syncing and at 97% and it uses 42% of my 2T HD.

So you can run Bitcoin on a 1T HD but it will be over 84% so I recommend to start with 2T.

If you also want to run LN as well 2T is almost a hard requirement right now.

Yeah, I was afraid that would be the case, thanks

it looks like a 1TB should be enough according to some searches i did, that is assuming the SSD is exclusively for bitcoin

> While the current blockchain size is around 678 GB, it's recommended to have at least 1 TB of free space to accommodate future growth, according to BaCloud.com.

you may wish to go for a 2TB if it's not exclusively for bitcoin, or 1TB SSD + something like a 250GB for the system and software

although i'm not an expert, so take it with a grain of salt πŸ§‚

Yeah, even if 1 TB would be exclusive for bitcoin, the question is, his long it will last. I might have to be buying 2 TB anyway sooner than later, I guess

My two cents for this...

If you are low budget, then go for 2TB spinning disk. Otherwise, get a 2TB SSD.

Today the blockchain will fit on 1 TB. If you want your node to remain a full node for years to come, 2 TB is recommended.

Yeah, I've already bought 2 TB and I'm glad that I have. Thank you and everybody that commented on my post!
