I like the idea. So much flexibility to build whatever we want.
Yeah, I actually haven't heard any discussion of trade-offs for that one. Other than, I suppose, it alters miner incentives in certain ways, the extent of which we can't fully know in advance.
We can basically make alt-coins obsolete with drive chains.
