How can you identify the machine? Does each machine need to be configured with the ID, so that it can be written in the block?

We're a pool, we have to keep track of data like that.

Every machine is sent work and returns its PoW.

All work is slightly unique so as to avoid miners doing the same work as any other.

Pool side this is all collected and stored in a truly staggering database.
