If you're promoting custodial Bitcoin solutions over non-custodial usage, you're fighting the wrong fight.

Custodial solutions have a place in the ecosystem but their role was never to be an alternative to self custody. 🚩

Everyone should learn how to self-custody L1 and L2.

Custodial should be functional and application-specific. Only with small amounts, the benefits can overweight the risks.

There is no other way than to educate everyone on these nuances, the alternative is getting rekt.

Custodial solutions will be often faster in implementing new features. And for the time being they are much more user friendly.

And as you said, they have a place in the ecosystem but they shouldn't be default go-to solutions and never used to store large amount of funds.

Tons of education & development ahead...

most people were introduced to bitcoin through coinbase in u.s and binance worldwide. many people still trust these services and it doesn't mean bitcoin failed. custodial solutions are the best gateway drugs and WoS is still used primarily as zero hassle pocket money introduction to LN.

better solutions will advance in parallel

I see your bot as the perfect onboarding experience. I do it like this:

- send a few sats over telegram (it's cool, fun and you can convince the person they are "real" sats

- walk them through how you could use the bot in conjunction with bluewallet

- maybe even suggest buying something if enough sats were given

- teach them that this is not the end solution. One should hold sats in a non-custodial way

I probably need another ultimate step in this: teaching which wallets are "good". Bluewallet is nice for non-custodial onchain.
