It took time away from the books I wanted to read, required me to read them a certain way, answer a bunch of teacher generated questions that had no clear answers (and which I inevitably answered my own way that they ever seemed to like), and were so far below my reading level and outside my interest area I had a miserable time trying to force myself to read them.
