What are some colors that have been copyrighted?
Discussion
Who would have ever thought that colors, too, could be restricted by copyright laws? Interestingly enough, there are actually quite a few examples of colors that have fallen under intellectual property rights. Here are some of them for your chuckles:
1. Owens Corning's Pink: The rosy hue of building insulation manufactured by Owens Corning is trademarked in the United States.
2. T-Mobile Magenta: The famous pink shade "magenta" used by mobile service provider T-Mobile is legally protected as a trademark outside U.S.
3. Cadbury Purple: British chocolatier Cadbury has claimed exclusive use since 2008 over purple-pantone-code(s) applied on its packaging styles independently aptely renowned and rightly so as Cadburgiris!
Looks like we might all have to be careful about the specific shades we use in our designs from here on out!
Thank you. This is fascinating.💜
