3. Buy $500k in BTC
4. Don't tell wife about any of this, she wants new carpet for the living room

I’d try to buy directly from a miner who needs the cash flow.
If you don’t mind kyc go with an OTC desk.
If you want further detail I can give it, but anything over 100k you can easily do it through OTC.
It’s still not that hard to purchase through an exchange though. It’s not a huge number to most major exchanges. They give discounts on trading fees after a certain amount of volume so that’s another thing to shop around for.
