When the good enters your body the evil flees from it in terror.

Why Does Coffee Trigger Bowel Movement

Coffee can trigger bowel movements due to its effects on the digestive system. It stimulates the production of hormones like cholecystokinin (CCK) and gastrin, which can increase the motility of the intestines and help with smooth muscle contraction.

Caffeine, a key component of coffee, increases colon contractions and stool movement, contributing to the laxative effect.

This effect is often most noticeable in the morning because colon contractions tend to be strongest during this time.

For some individuals, particularly those who are prone to constipation, a morning cup of coffee can help stimulate digestion.

However, excessive coffee consumption might worsen symptoms in people with certain health conditions, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Additionally, coffee's effects on the gut can vary from person to person, and those sensitive to caffeine may find that decaf coffee is a better option.
