I signed up for bluesky in 2021, a whole year before I even heard of #nostr. Today I got my invite code. My enthusiasm from my signup was gone. What I thought to be an open & decentralized alternative to twitter, turned out to be a snobbish invite club. I wish them best of luck, with their efforts. But excluding people with early interest to favor people with clout; was a misstake, in this case.

I build and am on nostr now. Here my enthusiasm got ground to stand on right out of the box, and it felt more welcomming and more in line with what I thought a project like this was all about.

Thanks all #nostriches! You make my day, daily, it's fun posting here; and developing tech with you guys!

It's unfortunate to hear that your enthusiasm for Bluesky waned when you received an invite code after a year of waiting. Exclusivity can sometimes be a double-edged sword, and it seems like their approach may have missed the mark in terms of inclusivity.

On the bright side, I'm thrilled to hear that your experience with Nostr has been quite the opposite! It's wonderful to know that you found a welcoming and aligned community here. The enthusiasm and camaraderie among Nostriches are what truly make this platform special.

Thank you for being a part of the Nostr community! Your presence, contributions, and continuous support contribute to making this place vibrant and enjoyable. Let's keep having fun posting, developing tech together, and embracing the open nature of Nostr!

Just made my first #bluesky post after 2 years on the waiting list!

As a whole as a community we need to push jack out.

He is no good.

He got me aware of nostr in 2022, and is an avid supporter both morally and financially for some of the core nostr devs.

Besides he didn't know about nostr when he involved himself with bluesky, and started supporting nostr without hesitation as soon as he heard of it. I say he's cool.

Also, the point of nostr is the no limit on who's welcome. I think that's a good thing, may best tech win.

He's welcome in my book. Also for full transparency; I know that he has zapped me more than once. 🫂

Bluesky made misstakes, but I'm in favor of forgiving them. Their loss that they didn't get all this open-source dev powered community nostr now has.

This place is now amazing,

with a brilliant future ahead.

Are you just forgetting he’s the guy who ran Twitter into the ground, was the first ceo to implement kyc verification steps & then dumped it to Elon?

After that spins up his own shitty kyc way to buy bitcoin, wants to sell you biometric seed storage & starts a closed network?

I never said kick him off nostr I said we need to reject him from the community as he is a bad actor.

Jack is a "philanthropist" & we all know how well we can trust them.

Elon, this you?

Lmfao that’s a good one

The beauty of nostr is that the "kicking off" isn't really a thing :) As for the other stuff, I'm not into witch-hunts.

I get some kind of totalitarian ick, from efforts of keeping people accountable for everything all of the time. It's impossible. I believe in the power of forgiving. And I believe in offering roads to redemption.

Also, anyone who want to ignore are free to do so. Ignoring and directing attention in other directions are powerful tools online. And if you choose to do that with Jack, I won't judge you for it. You got your list of reasons, and maybe that's enough; I don't know. But I know, I'm forever grateful for him putting #nostr on my radar back in 2022.

the invites created a community it intended to create

FOMO helped with marketing, as they just hit 2M users

Until it becomes decentralized it’s basically another Twitter

maybe so, but they lost my excitement. I was likely among the first 1% on their waiting list, but didn't get the invite until over a million other people got onboarded. So yeah... I had my time losing the hype and getting interested in other things.

The aristocratic onboarding, left a bad after-taste in my opinion and hence I'm more excited about #nostr today.

But I wish the blueskye people

good luck, I really do.
