That said I opened a new UK bank account recently and only needed my ID and to fill out a short survey (five or so questions about source of income) to KYC.

Not really dystopia yet. But I still refuse to do any KYC for Bitcoin. Can't avoid it for banks but Bitcoin was explicitly designed to exist outside this financial system.

That doesn't sound too bad. I have to get a reference letter from my previous bank to even be considered for a bank account at the moment. I don't even want a bank a/c. The only reason to have the bank a/c is to satisfy the requirement to have a bank a/c! I've worked my balls off for the money I have and now have to jump through hoops to prove I'm not a terrorist drug dealing pedo.
