i previously tried complaining about this to nostr:npub1ye5ptcxfyyxl5vjvdjar2ua3f0hynkjzpx552mu5snj3qmx5pzjscpknpr but the color of "repost" icon is too pale. in the screen shot above it is activated ( reposted ) but you can barely see it form the color because the pale green is too close to pale gray that it is normally.

the basic idea here that nostr:npub1ye5ptcxfyyxl5vjvdjar2ua3f0hynkjzpx552mu5snj3qmx5pzjscpknpr needs to acknolwedge is that human visual perception is such that we do not see color except when the patch is large in size.

this is the basis behind the bayer sensors used by almost all modern cameras

where color resolution is only half of regular image but nobody notices it because of how the eyes work.

also in HDMI cables sometimes color information is at half resolution in the same way and for the same reason - because we simply can't see color on a single pixel level ... we need a LARGE SURFACE to see color ... this is why color swatches at Home Depot are the size of credit card not thumbnail ...

in practice this means that if you want that "repost" icon to be seen as green it either has to be bright green or the entire button has to light up and not just the lines of graphic on it.

in the same screen shot i posted you can see towards the left the "reply" icon is clearly seen as green, because it is both larger and a brighter green color.

and "write note" button is also clearly seen as green even though it is the same exact shade as the "repost" icon, but much larger in area.

yes i changed the default color scheme by toning down the green - but this change should have only applied to LARGE SURFACES of green where it becomes overwhelming.

it shouldn't have affected tiny green graphics where the color is already barely visible.

basically the color of LINES and SURFACES must be treated differently.

you should be able to tone down the color of SURFACES without muting the color of LINES.

the wider the surface the more muted the color should be and the thinner the line the more saturated the color. this is just to compensate for how we perceive color.

our brains use color information to identify object as a whole NOT to identify its shape. in our case here the BUTTON is the object and the TEXT or GRAPHIC in that button is the SHAPE. we can't apply subtle shade of color to that SHAPE and expect it to be noticeable.
