I don't think I would record them in the same way. Years ago I used to hire professional shooters for our ads. They would shoot horizontal first and then shoot vertical again with changes to both the text, the background, lightning and framing. Although you could convert, I think they are not really convertible. Maybe AI can do it.

Yeah, that was my thought. AI would have to be the solution somehow.
I think professionals are worried about the video resolution, because in order to keep the subject on both frames you’re restricted to the square intersection in the middle, and then you also need to crop the video so some footage won’t appear in neither of the outputs.
But still, given 4k cameras and the fact we’re going to compress anyway, I think it would be cool to shoot and playback “ratioless” videos like the iOS app Carousel.
