Galatians 3 is a weird choice for your argument tbh because that’s the letter that says there’s no such thing as Jews or Gentiles or males or females! Why did you pick that chapter of that letter to back up this statement??
Discussion
Romans is also a weird choice but for different reasons
Romans 9,Paul laments that his kinsmen according to the flesh (the Jews) have by and large been cut off from the covenant of God, and are accursed. Romans 11 he explains that they were broken off from the vine of God's covenant and Gentiles were grafted in, but that they can be easily grafted back in, should they turn to Christ.
This has nothing to do with the fact that Jesus was Jewish. It doesn’t say anywhere in Romans or Galatians or the entire Bible that Jesus wasn’t Jewish. Again, your choices are weird and irrelevant to the discussion at hand.
You seem to think that the discussion at hand is whether or not Jesus is Jewish, with the assumption that nostr:npub1x0r5gflnk2mn6h3c70nvnywpy2j46gzqwg6k7uw6fxswyz0md9qqnhshtn and myself both believe that he is not, but looking back through the conversation, neither of us ever made that claim, so how can that be the discussion at hand?
I made the claim Jesus is Jewish in response to the idiotic “nonbelievers are Jewish” which would mean Jesus, and majority of earliest followers (12 apostles, Saint Paul, Saint Mary Magdalene, etc etc), are nonbelievers. It’s bogus hater nonsense and in direct opposition to the gospel truth. Furthermore all sorts of paganism exists and atheism exists. But no; weirdos just want to pick fights with me for saying Jesus is Jewish and then idk ig not really follow the discussion at hand. 🙄
Galatians 3:7-9 ESV
[7] Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham. [8] And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.” [9] So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.
Galatians 3:16-18 ESV
[16] Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, “And to offsprings,” referring to many, but referring to one, “And to your offspring,” who is Christ. [17] This is what I mean: the law, which came 430 years afterward, does not annul a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to make the promise void. [18] For if the inheritance comes by the law, it no longer comes by promise; but God gave it to Abraham by a promise.
Galatians 3:28-29 ESV
[28] There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. [29] And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.
In other words, Paul's point of saying there is now no distinction between Jew or Greek is because the promises made to Abraham are only applicable to those who believe in Christ. So neither Jewish descent or Gentile descent matters. Christians, whether descended from Jews or any other nationality, are the only legitimate heirs of the promises made to Abraham and his seed.
None of this has anything to do with the discussion at hand which is that Jesus was Jewish. None of this says that Jesus wasn’t Jewish. Nowhere does anyone in the Bible ever say that Jesus wasn’t Jewish. Jesus died, resurrected from the dead, and ascended into heaven long before the term “Christian” was ever invented. This is why the word “Christian” is only used twice in the entire Bible. Read your Bible!
None of what you’re saying supports the bogus claim that Jesus’s Jewishness was rejected by anyone.
I don't believe I ever claimed Jesus isn't Jewish.
What is more, I don't think nostr:npub1x0r5gflnk2mn6h3c70nvnywpy2j46gzqwg6k7uw6fxswyz0md9qqnhshtn ever stated that Jesus isn't Jewish. He said "Jesus is Lord" but never said "Jesus is not Jewish."
I would read that as saying, "Jesus is Lord, and therefore transcends being MERELY Jewish," but I will let him speak for himself as to what he meant by it.
I think Blossom Rot blocked me a long time ago but I said he is Jewish and I don't care. Jesus is Lord, God is not Jewish and being Jewish does not mean anything after Christ. Through Christ you will be with God. Jews screwed themselves over by rejecting God to this very day and hating his son in their satanic hollybook, The Talmud
Are you emphasizing Christ's deity at the exclusion of his humanity? God is not Jewish, but Jesus certainly is, and at the same time, Jesus is also God. It's a paradox, but not a contradiction.
And being Jewish certainly DOES matter even after Christ's coming. At least, being a true Jew does. No one who isn't part of Israel, true Israel, will be saved. The thing is, that has nothing to do with ethnic origin. It has everything to do with having faith like Abraham, and specifically faith in the promised JEWISH messiah.
If you are a Christian, you are part of true Israel, a Jew by faith, regardless of your ethnicity.
Meanwhile, if you are a Jew by ethnicity, but have no faith in Jesus, you are no Jew at all. You are cut off from the covenant people of God. Most who profess to be Jews are no Jews at all in the eyes of God.
The verse doesn’t mean these differences don’t exist. Clearly males, females, Jews, Greeks, slaves, and free people exist and are different from each other in some way. What the verse is saying is that these differences don’t define believers compared to their unity in Christ.
And most critically for this conversation, with the following verse, “And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise” it’s hitting home that regardless of physical bloodline, all Christians are Abraham’s descendants in spirit and covenant.
I know the verse doesn’t mean those differences don’t exist. The term Christian means follower of Christ. Both Jews and Gentiles/Greeks were followers of Christ. Jesus himself was not a Christian because he is literally the Christ.
