Sure. People want convenience - until they get rugged. And then they wish that they had a time machine and made a different choice.
I've lived and worked in a lot of small communities. Exit scams lead to generational savings being wiped out; broken families; suicides etc. I'm currently typing this from an isolated community of a few thousand people. Ecash would be an unmitigated disaster, and is accordingly being treating as threat.
