It was a racist, traumatic experience unlike anything she'd ever gone through before. My parents were shook by that place. It was very upsetting to them that my sister lived there.

And you know...you never want to step on someone's dream. So, we all stopped trying to persuade her not to go. She lasted two years and is now happily back in NY. We all breathed a sigh of relief.
