installing pleroma on nixos is proving to be insane, even though it has services configured. The package doesn't include a "COOKIE" file which breaks `pleroma_ctl instance gen`. If I make my own cookie file and export it as a variable, it proceeds to fail reading a file that doesn't exist for some reason. I wanted to be super cool and configure it all with nix but I might just say fuck it and do something lame like ubuntu. It's not even hard to do normally I just have to make my life hard.

Lesson:

Pleroma is fucking garbage, and no one should use it unless they're a tranny janny. Just like the Mastotards.

I'm too stubborn to stop now. I figured it out finally. The issue is whoever packaged this for nix didn't (or couldn't) factor in needing to run instance gen *before* it makes the folders on your system. I ended up having to make my own pleroma user and do the steps in a very specific order. But my god I finally got it. Almost. Now I can't create a new user cause of a new error lol.

I'm stopping this is fucking madness. The "new error" is probably a library mismatch due to something on nixos. Guess the last couple hours were for nothin. Gotta just do it like a normal person from a ubuntu install and be boring. Might use a different platform too I was specifically going back to pleroma because of the existing options in nixos services.
