Predators will dig under and kill your animals. A Martin or fox, for example, can wipe out a flock in minutes.

Chicken wire carpet 50cm all around the pen should do the trick. Cover with some mulch for aesthetics and to see where predators tried to dig.
Yes we're doing just that, along with metal staples around the edges. Plus covering gaps around the door.
