🇺🇸DOJ to boost crypto-related investigations by merging teams!
The US Department of Justice is stepping up efforts to combat cryptocurrency-related crimes by combining a dedicated crypto team with a computer crime unit. Starting this week, the DOJ will merge the National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team into the Computer Crimes and Intellectual Property Section, according to Nicole Argentieri, the department's Deputy Assistant Attorney General. This move will effectively double the number of attorneys available to work on crypto-related issues. The crypto enforcement team was launched in October 2021 to focus on money laundering and cybercrime. Since then, they've taken enforcement action against Bitzlato, a crypto exchange accused of operating an unregistered money transmitting business, and arrested Avraham Eisenberg for exploiting the decentralized exchange Mango Markets. #DOJ #Cryptocurrency #Investigations
