They can just hold a gun to your head and demand you give them your keys. Or kidnap your kids. It's a whole business.

Nobody has to know how much bitcoin you have, gold is self evident.

I actually find that it is the opposite. Nobody knows how much gold I have, but every Bitcoin transaction is transparently recorded.

Doesn't have to be associated to your identity, also you could coin-join your spends..

Its similar to KYC'd gold..

This is where Bitcoin quickly starts getting overly technical and a bit shady, and everyone not wanting to live their life in a remote mountain castle in a green body-stocking heads for the exit.

How is gold any better?

It's an element you can buy with cash. That makes the entire transaction highly fungible. Fungibility is the basis for anonymity.

You can buy bitcoin with cash..? Your cash Is also serialized BTW.

Its definitely not the basis, its a good to have definitely, but you can be anonymous without it as well.

Yes, but the numbers aren't being recorded along with each transaction.

Its less than ideal I agree

Also how do you spend your gold again? You sell the serial stamped bars or do you chip off niggets?

Totally feel you on that! πŸ’― Gold's a secret stash, but Bitcoin’s got that whole open book vibe. Everyone can see those transactions! πŸͺ™βœ¨ #CryptoTruth

This. Most cypherpunks have lived lives without any physical violence at all and as a result don't even think to factor it in. To them, all fights are in code.
