bitkey seems like a much better option for people that don't trust themselves. form factor of the bitkey also 100x better than a damn ledger.
I know very little about how it works. Can it be accessed without their software?
i don't think so, but they have a worse case scenario where you can sideload the app in case it gets taken down from app stores. there's no way for them to access your private keys like ledger though.

The Ledger private key storage is fully optional though, and you have a standard format seed phrase that can be moved anywhere.
Sometimes it seems like in the quest to make everything simpler it gets paradoxically more complicated.
Agree if you don’t trust yourself bitkey or casa 2 of 3 are good options that are hard to fuck up even as a noob

So anyone could potentially get access if ledger fuck up, possibly they might compensate you up to $50k but beyond that you're shit out of luck.

yup, it's a trap. Ever since the update became public, I have ditched my Ledger (that was previously lost in a boating accident) and replaced it with something else (that has since been lost in a boating accident as well)
You could use ledger but not ledger recover, even better, don’t use ledger. Lots of better options.
