Daily Roman History:

A seer told a young Caligula he had as much chance as being Emperor as he did crossing the Bay of Baiae. When he did become Emperor Caligula ordered a fleet of ships to be lashed together and filled with dirt to create a makeshift bridge on which he rode his horse across the bay to disprove the prophecy. Due to taking the ships used for goods transportation this cause a minor famine in the Italian peninsula.
