Kids need space

What are your thoughts on single parenting?
It's difficult and your kids may suffer for it, so it is to be avoided if at all possible. If you're a woman, pick a man that you can have confidence won't run off if things get too hard.
Interesting. See, I was raised by a widowed mother since I was nine. I agree, it should be avoided if possible. It's a long story. I'll give you the short version. Dad died. Mom was depressed for awhile. She still did a good job raising me and everything. But, I became the caretaker for a short time. It's interesting because as I reflect on my life, I don't feel as though it was "bad" per se. Taught me independence VERY early on. Definitely didn't help with building long-term romantic relationships. And there's something about that independence that people have a tendency to get jealous of. 🤷♂️🤔
My dad ran off to another country when I was nine and mum was pregnant with her fourth child. Long story short, our childhood was riddled with mental illness, drugs, multiple types of abuse, lots of shady characters (murderers, drugs and arms dealers but very few 'normal' people) and poverty. Nothing good came of it but I spose I like who I am and that too fashioned me.
I've experienced single parenting six ways from Sunday, and all I can say is: No.
