I think they'll hang onto it as an empty ritual so they can continue to blather on about "democracy." The platitudes about voting and democracy seem to increase in proportion to how hard the boot is coming down. I think you're more likely to see them bring in compulsory voting like we have in Australia. The elections will all be fixed, of course.

It ensures everyone gets their say. Or else they get a $60 fine.
In practice, we turn up at the polling station, get out names crossed off the list (no ID required) and are handed a ballot and a lead pencil (lol). What we do after that is apparently our business.
