I don't think this is true. I think these things are a bunch of random coincidences that we assign narratives to after the fact.

but in 2010, who would complain about YT or orkut? It was wild, no censorship. Google still was "don't be evil".

no cancel culture. no debanking. data was being used for advertising, so what?
