What do you mean, there were several landings after?
I think funding just funneled to better projects that promised more valuable data, eg rovers and probes and new space telescopes
Especially after challenger, nasa was under pressure to reduce putting human life at risk
Not since 1972 Apollo 17 mission, so we did go back a couple of times. But not again in 40 years. And with all the advancements in tech, too. Just seems sus.
Probably nothing, that’s why they haven’t gone back I would guess. That and the whole thing was just a dick measuring contest between Soviet money printers and American money printers
