It's kinda the equivalent of "Hi" on Nostr. I believe it's Costa Rican in origin.

It’s p cringe tbh.

So weird. Is there some nostr famous person from Costa Rica?

You do you 🙏

Hi. Thanks for clarifying.

I know what it means. I’ve been going to Costa Rica my whole life. I just don’t understand why so many people here are saying it.

I think it's because of Jack Dorsey.

He started wishing people pv here, somewhat like a Good Morning wish & many people in the Nostr community kinda adopted it

Interesting

its like a cult round here

jack actually suggested change gm to pv

Why did absolutely everyone decide to adopt it? I could be wrong but I assume 99% of the people using it don’t even speak Spanish and haven’t even been to Costa Rica.

People are here on Nostr because they want to try something new & different (most of them use multiple clients to try different features). My guess is similar to that when they had an alternative to gm, they switched. Also, "pv" feels like defining a moment in time, when Nostr started to find it's legs.

The good thing is you can wish people GM/ Hello and they'd still wish back. I don't use pv or even zaps, but I've found people on here still welcoming. Maybe your experience is different

Hi. Thanks for chiming in.

I’m also here to try something new and different. I’m very new and trying to wrap my head around the culture. There seems to only be one at the moment.

Thanks for helping me make sense of things.

I actually haven’t interacted with very many people. Some people have been welcoming and some have just ignored me.

I’m still curious

even #[5] got sick of the gm, its about meaningless gesters filling the feed

any bot can spam gm pv zap emojis but real text takes effort

Why "even"? I was the first to never like it.

Respect. I don’t like it either.

theres a reason fiatjaf was the guy who got nostr rolling, cause he is cool
