Figured it’s worth sharing here because I will prob die on the hill that Ghost is going down the wrong road with ActivityPub, which I give two 💩 about.

GHOST AND NOSTR WOULD BE A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN.

NOSTR IS THE ONLY THING BENEFICIAL!

It’s a superior protocol. Activitypub solves nothing. Have nostr and ghost integrate so I can zap on ghost. Right now, I have a Mash plug in and post links to Alby and ZBD. Make it so I can log onto my ghost dashboard and see my activity from nostr. Make it so my every ghost post automatically publishes to Nostr.

Integrate these two. Integrate them all, who cares? I just want Nostr and Ghost to work together.

Furthermore, I work in social media for tech companies. Part of what I do is follow social media and tech news so my colleagues don’t have to. I don’t miss much in this ridiculous intersection of SaaS and social. That said…

ActivityPub, Mastodon, Threads etc is all trendy. It’s noise.

Nostr is building something more permanent.

ActivityPub is full of GTM slush 🙄 we won’t be talking about it in 5 years.

No one knows where Nostr will be in 5 years. But the goals are far different.

Nostr devs want to build long-term. The goals are freedom, free speech, never having an algo, making actual friends (ya know, being social in reality), and OF COURSE using the lightning network for value 4 value payments.

On Nostr, there is a future.

On ActivityPub, it feels like 1999 Silicon Valley, like the frat boys are making another Friendster so they can be the next Google and put ping pong tables in the cafeteria. 🏓
