that, and it's almost impossible for large teams to work efficiently, where "large" isn't actually that many people in software

I wonder if a better model wouldn't be to throw a few hundred people at the game up front to get it roughed out, then have a small team spend a few years polishing it. as opposed to what they seem to do now which is start with a smallish team and then throw hundreds of people at it near the end to drag it over the finish line
