It seems that Vitalik Buterin has no confidence in the security of the infrastructure that enables ETH staking.

"The main reason why I personally don't stake all my ETH but only a fairly small part is that the keys are public on an online system and it has to be a multi-sig system for security reasons. Multi-sigs for staking of coins are still quite difficult to set up. It gets complicated in many ways."
