Oh yay! It "only" took 45 minutes to fail 😅
I love bitcoin and how fast it usually is, but having my money taken hostage in a random queue I can't interact with is no fun 😅

i don't think it had anything to do with the network, wallet of satoshi servers don't change network that was just your terminal.
it does happen occasionally getting stuck for half an hour but like once in 50 or more in my experience.
it's much less fun when you are running a lightning node and randomly a channel peer decides to force close the channel with your biggest balance in it without warning and you are stuck for a week.
doesn't really end up costing very much, just inconvenient.
Ah thanks. It did give me a popup where it said something about network, but maybe it wasn't my network but the lightning network then 😅
That sounds very inconvenient and no fun at all!!!! We've thought of running a node so we could use it to sell our books, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I think I'll keep selling our books myself through Nostr for now then! 😬
alby hub is great, i've been running it for like 8 months now, on the cloud hosting plan, cost 21ksat/month, and i use it with alby Go which lets me do payments on my mobile.
you don't have to learn very much to get started with it. mainly just do read their docs well and open a few channels, i recommend at least one in and one outbound, but if you are mainly gonna be receiving payments, get two inbound ones (cost about 10-14ksat to open). definitely make sure you keep a few more running than you think you need because sometimes they get closed. the current version also includes rebalancing so you can make sure you spread your sats across your channels and don't get stuck for a week with the one channel you had a lot in, stuck waiting for it to go back into your onchain wallet.
you most likely will not run into any expensive problems with it, just occasionally maybe you have funds stuck in purgatory for a while until they come back to you.
also, on-chain is probably fine for selling books, unless for digital delivery then maybe users will prefer to use fast-settling lightning but if you are shipping a physical copy then onchain is fine
For now, we only sell Pdf's, but if we get enough income to cover it, we might order a box of books and sell those.
I realized it would be a smart investment even if it takes 3 years to sell the physical copies, as fiat is dying, so the prices for the books would probably keep going up during that time, which means we would have spent a lower base price than if we ordered copies as we got order. Not to mention the time it takes to wait to get them 😬
So, for now, Amazon gets to handle customer service for all the physical copies 😎 they basically work for us, we're the boss.... 😅🤣
