On rocks only works with JD IMO. If you want to drink Scotch, just pour some on the glass. That’s all.

That might be rough. I suggest to prepare a cold glass of water to wash your mouth after the every sip.

think i've had JD only once and even that was with some Coke

Most of the stuff works with JD, but tbf, it’s the McDonald’s of whiskeys. It’s well known but far from being the best.
